In the field of advanced fertility care,
every detail counts.
That’s why our EZ-Range denudation and handling devices and ORIGIO micropipettes were developed to meet the standards of experts in the field of assisted reproductive technology (ART).
One such ART Laboratory Director, Ayşe Altun, took the time to discuss her experience using our devices in her laboratory.
Quality and Consistency
When faced with the challenge of equipping her lab with reliable tools to carry out denudation, handling, ICSI and biopsy, Dr Altun tested a variety of products before selecting quality devices from CooperSurgical.
She notes that the quality assurance standards were a key factor in her decision to incorporate in particular the EZ-Range into her lab, stating “The fact that the product has been fully tested is reassuring.”
Dr Altun has highlighted the EZ-TipTM pipettes which allow for easy handling during steps of the IVF protocol. She explains,
“The biggest advantage for me is that the pipettes are designed to be flexible.”

Comfort, Precision and Control
In carrying out routine procedures, Dr Altun found that one advantage of EZ-RangeTM devices is their user-friendly design, which allows for quick installation and ease of use. She explains, “Inserting EZ-Tip into the EZ-Grip can be done very easily. Fast installation and removal of tips facilitates the routine workflow.”
She goes on to mention the effective control of the EZ-GripTM pipettor given by its smooth piston, which ensures that “During denudation, fluid withdrawal and fluid administration can be done in a controlled manner.”
Functionality and Control with ORIGIO® Micropipettes
For the intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) procedure, Dr Altun notes the importance of achieving fluid control during injection and manipulation, saying “The ORIGIO ICSI micropipette facilitates the aspiration and injection of sperm. Its design ensures a gentle and controlled aspiration of the sperm in the pipette.”
The ORIGIO micropipettes provide consistency when carrying out delicate aspirations and injections while helping to ensure minimal trauma to the oocyte.1
Design
The thinness of the ICSI Slimline tip, specifically, has been helpful to Dr Altun in achieving optimal oocyte penetration. “Penetration of sperm into the oocyte can be achieved easily by entering and exiting the oocyte thanks to the thinness of the pipette tip.”
Micropipettes with a small inner diameter minimize the likelihood of oocyte damage.1–3
Dr Altun is also satisfied with her choice for biopsy micropipettes. She adds “The flat tip of the ORIGIO biopsy micropipettes and multiple diameters available of the pipette allow good aspiration of the desired number of cells. The design of the tip makes it possible to hold, aspirate and detach the cells from the embryo when performing biopsy.”
CooperSurgical’s biopsy micropipettes are designed to reduce the risk of damaging the cells or embryos during biopsy.4
We would like to thank Ayşe Altun and the team at Istanbul Medical University’s Department of Infertility for taking the time to share invaluable feedback on their experiences with CooperSurgical® devices.
