Fertility Informed Consent in the Digital Era

Join Dr. Steven Lindheim, Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine and Medical Director of Santa Monica Fertility, and Dr. Jody Madeira, Professor of Law and Louis F. Niezer Faculty Fellow and Co-Director of the Center for Law, Society & Culture at Indiana University Maurer School of Law, as they review the changing landscape of informed consent within fertility clinics. This journal club discussion will include highlights from three research studies:

• A 2018 Fertility & Sterility publication detailing patient and provider feedback on digital informed consenting through the EngagedMD multimedia platform

•A 2020 study of patient experiences and perceptions of the informed consent process for IVF (currently in press with The Journal of Reproductive Medicine)

•Initial findings from an RCT comparing the efficacy of patient education and informed consent through the EngagedMD platform versus traditional methods (accepted for presentation at ASRM 2020).
