Frequently Asked Questions
The Stripper has been a trusted brand for denudation and handling since 1999. The portfolio includes three types of pipettor handles designed for specific IVF uses: The Stripper for denudation and handling, The Stripper CC for COC handling and The Stripper PGD for handling of biopsied material.
The Stripper handle has a blow-out capacity to remove the remaining liquid in the tip which can reduce the risk of oocytes and embryos getting stuck in the pipette tip. Tip vials and individually packed tips are color-coded which will reduce the risk of using a tip diameter which is too small for the purpose, posing mechanical stress to the oocyte or embryo.
The Stripper pipettor and The Stripper tips are designed for denudation of oocytes in preparation for ICSI and IVF techniques. The Stripper pipettor and tips can also be used for handling or moving oocytes and embryos from one container to another, for example: between drops in a dish, between dishes or moving to a vitrification carrier. The devices are also approved to handle biopsied material for PGT, such as polar bodies, blastomeres and trophectoderm cells.
The pipette tip is made of medical grade plastic which will flex and not damage the Petri dish.
The Stripper Tips are compatible with commonly used denudation pipettors with a 0.9mm outer diameter.
The Stripper pipettor may eventually require replacement of the plunger wire and O-rings after extended use. These can be ordered as separate repair kits. One set is supplied with the unit. An instructional video about on how to perform this replacement in the IFU, can be found above.
A hexagon key is supplied with The Stripper pipettor which is needed to loosen and replace the plunger wire. No tools are required to replace the O-rings. To assemble the Comfort Grip, a small screwdriver is needed, which is not provided in the Comfort Grip kit.
The Stripper PGD has been designed to handle small samples such as polar bodies, blastomeres and trophectoderm cells for PGT. The only tip that fits this pipettor is therefore the 50µm The Stripper Tip, product code MXL3-50 or MXL3-IND-50.
The Stripper CC has been designed for larger cell masses, such as COCs. The only tip that fits this pipettor is therefore the 1000µm Stripper Tip, product code MXL3-CC or MXL3-IND-CC.
The maintenance instructions are similar to those for The Stripper, and instructions can be found in the IFU, or in the maintenance video above.
