Assisted Hatching and Zona Dissection Micropipettes

A comprehensive range for all preferences

Assisted hatching micropipettes are used to direct acidic solution onto the zona pellucida to thin the zona or create a hole to enable the embryo to hatch.

Zona dissection micropipettes are used to mechanically cut an opening in the zona pellucida of an oocyte or embryo to enable assisted hatching and biopsy.

With two ranges of pipettes, we offer a wide variety of sizes and shapes so you can choose what best fits your requirements.

These products are available for sale in Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia, as well as selected countries in the rest of the world.cts are available for sale in selected countries worldwide.

Assisted Hatching Micropipettes

The outer protein membrane that surrounds the embryo or blastocyst is weakened to facilitate hatching and the eventual implantation of the embryo. These micropipettes can be used to create zona opening before biopsy or ICSI, and additionally for collapsing blastocysts before vitrification.

CooperSurgical® assisted hatching micropipettes are crafted with precision and innovation; they offer control in creating an opening in the zona pellucida.

ORIGIO® Assisted Hatching Micropipettes

  • Assisted Hatching micropipettes have a flat, slightly polished opening
  • Two inner diameter sizes are available: 8 or 10µm

The Pipette Company TPC™ Assisted Hatching Micropipette

  • Flat, square and lightly heat-polished to reduce the possibility of damage to the embryo or polar body due to sharp edges

If you choose not to use laser-drilling of the zona pellucida, we recommend using the assisted hatching pipette (MAH-SM-(angle)) in combination with acidic solution to create a hole in the zona.

A smaller ID provides better control of the acidic solution.

CooperSurgical recommends the use of a laser. Laser-assisted hatching is a standardized method.
To compare with the use of laser, please refer to the information about our RI Saturn 5TM Laser System.

Partial Zona Dissection (PZD) Micropipettes

PZD micropipettes play a role in both biopsy and mechanical hatching techniques by serving as precise tools to physically penetrate the protective barrier known as the zona pellucida. Our micropipettes are designed to make controlled incisions or punctures in the zona pellucida, enabling targeted access to the embryo.

These micropipettes are fine and precise instruments, often with a tapered or beveled tip, allowing for controlled cutting or thinning of the zona pellucida without causing significant damage to the embryo.

ORIGIO® PZD Micropipettes

  • The sharp tip of the micropipette mechanically creates a breach in the zona pellucida around the oocyte or embryo
  • PZD micropipette is designed with a long thin taper to a sharp point
  • Available angle options: 30 or 35 degrees

TPC™ PZD Micropipettes

  • Fine tip and a sharp cutting edge
  • Ergonomic design to support manual and micromanipulation handling

A sharper tip makes it easier to penetrate the zona pellucida as it is a non-elastic structure.

Packaging

BiopsyPipette-single-560x390

ORIGIO pipettes packaging

All our ORIGIO micropipettes are packaged in a transparent compact box of 10.

  • Utilizes less shelf space
  • Allows for a very quick overview of how many pipettes are left
  • Includes tip protector in each micropipette tube

Please watch the video if you would like to see how easy it is to take an ORIGIO micropipette out of its packaging.

TPC-group-single-560x390

TPC pipettes packaging

All our TPC micropipettes are packaged in a recyclable cardboard box of 10. CooperSurgical encourages all clinics to recycle when possible.

Pipettes are individually packaged and gamma sterilized for optimum sterility. For easy identification, pipettes are packed in color-coded protective holders. Outer labels are also color-coded.

If you choose not to use laser-drilling of the zona pellucida, we recommend using the Assisted Hatching pipet (MAH-SM-(angle)) in combination with the Acidified Tyrodes media to create a hole in the zona. This means on the one side of the micromanipulator you need a double pipet holder to have the Assisted Hatching and the biopsy pipet both “in play.”
