Course Type

  • Pre-course self-study module with self-assessment questionnaire to be completed before the course
  • 1 module of 90 minutes, 1 module of 75 minutes including lecturing and question taking
  • 1 Module of 60 minutes including troubleshooting, questions, and answers

Course Description

Participants will learn about key considerations in the design of a new laboratory or re-build of an existing one using the latest know-how – from planning (space design and future needs) to the selection of construction materials (building materials, decision on ventilation system), laboratory furniture, and equipment.

Participants will also receive guidance regarding the start-up and validation of the laboratory facilities before starting clinical treatments.

The importance of implementing a robust system of Total Quality Management (TQM, SOPs, KPI) will also be discussed

  • Theoretical insight into IVF lab design and layout
  • Theoretical insight into the validation of your project: design qualification, installation qualification, operational qualification, and process qualification
  • Theoretical insight into the commissioning of the building project
  • An insight into the validation process of the newly built laboratory
  • An insight into monitoring the activities in your laboratory

Target Audience

Clinical embryologists, clinicians, lab managers, unit managers, clinic directors having a good understanding of the working of an ART laboratory and regulations that apply to ART labs in their country.

Minimal expertise required for participation in the Course

Participants must have a good understanding of the workings of an ART laboratory and the regulations and guidelines that apply to ART in their country.

Minimal technology requirements for participation

The participant must have adequate Wi-Fi, camera, and audio from a laptop (not phone) to engage during the Course.
Courses will be run via the Zoom and Teams platforms.

Certificate of attendance

Participants obtain a certificate of attendance after attending all modules and completing the Course evaluation at the end of the Course.
